Duke of Edinburgh

Casterton College is a Direct Licence Centre offering the Duke of Edinburgh award at Bronze and Silver level to all students interested at the start of Year 9(Bronze) and year 10 (Silver).

It is a way to stretch individuals beyond their own expectations and broaden their horizons. It is a non-competitive scheme that has 4 sections to complete at each level; VOLUNTEERING, PHYSICAL, SKILL AND EXPEDITION.

The Duke of Edinburgh Award is a challenging programme of activities which will help you learn new skills, help others and experience adventures. Achievements are widely recognised in education and employment. The school supports the participant in many ways, for example, through training and information sessions with advice and encouragement to help you stay focused.

All Duke of Edinburgh paperwork is dealt with by the D of E Manager, Mrs Bowers, at school. She will monitor the progress through each section and will hold meetings and drop-in sessions to ensure everyone is on track and to answer any queries. The award verifier in the school is Ms Sims. She will check and verify all awards to make sure all requirements have been met so that the certificate and badge can be presented to the participant.  With the highest completion rates within Rutland, our dedicated Duke of Edinburgh team will ensure that you achieve everything you set out to do.
