SEND

Casterton is an inclusive school, and we do everything reasonably possible to ensure that our students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) are given the best possible support. We are proud that our students with SEND have consistently made more progress over the last few years than similar students nationally. For example, in 2024, the overall progress score for our students with an Education, Care and Health Plan (EHCP) was 0.11 compared to -1.13 nationally, while the overall progress for our SEND students without an EHCP was-0.34 compared to -0.45 nationally.

SEND is at the heart of our school and is led by a highly qualified assistant principal and SENCO who sits on the senior team. Teachers have SEND training every six weeks, and they are given two required common practice instructions (RCP) for every SEND student they teach, advising them on what works best for each child. We track our interventions carefully to ensure they are having the right impact, and we hold regular coffee mornings for parents of SEND students, where they can meet our SENCO and other key staff to discuss progress.

If you wish to contact us about our provision, please speak to Mary Mindham, SENCO at Enquiries@castertoncollege.com
