Transition

We are one of very few schools that offer an entire week of transition in July of Year 6 prior to joining us in September. We do this because we know how much it benefits your child and want them to get off to a flying start.

Moving to secondary school can be a worrying time for students and parents alike, but our programme relieves those worries. We work closely with primary schools to get to know your child before they join us, so you can be confident they will thrive in Year 7.

Transition week is a joy. Your child will get to make new friends and have great experiences. It is so much more than simply giving them a timetable with lessons. We make it fun, and build in a wide variety of exciting activities to enjoy. If your child is particularly anxious, we can also arrange short visits prior to the week, to help them acclimatise gradually and not feel overwhelmed.

Finally, we consider you as parents, because we know the process can also be stressful for you too. Your child is growing up, and it may feel strange at first, but rest assured there is nothing to be afraid of, and we will help you all the way. Remember, your child is joining a great school, and you will be proud of the person they become.
