If ability is not fixed and dreams don't work, unless you do, it is important you know what those dreams are. We put career education at the heart of what we do and pride ourselves on raising the aspirations of each one of our students. It is so important to us that one of our houses is called Aspire.

Most of our students progress to Bourne Grammar or Stamford College, but a few go elsewhere depending on where they live, and some start apprenticeships instead. We know these institutions regard our students particularly highly.

Career education and guidance is key to students’ success. We are committed to providing personalised, high quality, impartial information and up-to-date advice and guidance through answering the wide range of questions students may have about progression to further learning opportunities, skills development and career choice. It is led by a personal development director responsible for careers and raising aspirations.

Our work begins in Year 7 and continues all the way through to Year 11. We start by getting to know the strengths and interests of our students. The Personal Development Curriculum (PSHE/ Careers) allows us to get to know them as individuals so we can advise them appropriately as they progress through school.

There are various events at pivotal points in a student’s educational journey, which help to inform and advise on the choices and information available, including assemblies and information visits. These include mock job interviews in year 10, an Enterprise Day in Year 7 and 8, and bespoke opportunities throughout all key stages.

All members of staff are expected to contribute to the Careers programme through their roles as tutors/coaches and subject teachers. Careers education is planned, monitored and evaluated by the director in consultation with members of the Senior Team. Every student has one timetabled personal development lesson a fortnight where many of the Careers topics are delivered.
